Tenugui is a Japanese cotton towel that is very pleasant to the touch. You can use it to wipe your hands, sponge your forehead, as a headband or simply for decoration.
Choju jinbutsu giga is a paper-bound ink painting scroll from Kozanji temple in Ukyo-ku, Kyoto. National treasure. The contents are caricatured depictions of animals and people, reflecting the prevailing conditions of the time.
They were made between the 12th and 13th centuries.
Some of the scenes show techniques similar to the effects used in current manga, and it is also referred to as 'Japan's oldest manga'.
This time, a scene of a sumo match between a rabbit and a frog was made into the Tenugui.
